About Rempei Iwata

As CEO of Japan Digital Design, the affiliate of MUFG, I lead and oversee digital initiatives such as AI, experience design, full-stack engineering, and cybersecurity. My career started from Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi in 2001. I work in the Internet banking field for 11 years. I have skills and experiences of both administration and technology. I had several experiences to manage a big project as a project manager to develop the IT product from planing phase to launching phase. I can also manage well budget plan as well as issues related to IT and Internet banking product because I was in charge of a division administration including budget control for 2.5 years in my career. I used to work at Digital Channels Department of Union Bank in the US. I was in charge of propelling innovation of the banks by researching an IT related new technology and a start-up company, finding a business partner company, and prototyping for proof of concept. Just before the current position, as the head of DX Office and the head of Digital Strategy Division in MUFG, I lead and oversaw DX initiatives such as developing new digital service, AI, RPA, Open API, an accelerator program, and an intorepreneur program in MUFG. In 2013 I studied the intersection field between IT and management at H. John Heinz College in Carnegie Mellon University.
