About Renan T.

Holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering and a PhD in Agricultural Sciences, strongly emphasising international experience. He completed part of his education at the renowned São Paulo State University (UNESP)- Botucatu Campus, Faculty of Agronomic Sciences, Brazil. He participated in an 18-month mobility programme at the prestigious University of Adelaide, Australia, where he was honoured with the "Joanne Kanas Memorial Medal". He completed his master's dissertation at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto (FCUP), focusing on vineyard modelling, where he applied remote sensing data and machine learning tools, receiving a top grade of 20/20. He was involved in the "WineSpectra" and "VineSpec" projects, which aimed to model the water status of vineyards in the Douro region using remote sensing techniques. Renan earned his PhD in Agricultural Sciences, which was unanimously approved, and was awarded a scholarship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT)(SFRH/BD/145182/2019). His research involved the application of systems biology in the context of precision agriculture. Early in his doctoral studies, he was selected to participate in the highly competitive “9th Advanced Training Course on Land Remote Sensing: Agriculture” promoted by the European Space Agency (ESA) at the renowned Université Catholique de Louvain, in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. He has been involved in the "Metbots" and "SpecTOM" projects and is currently part of the "Omicbots" and "Phenobots" projects. Additionally, he serves as an Invited Assistant at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, where he teaches the Applications in Agriculture course in the Master’s programme in Remote Sensing and various agriculture-related courses in the undergraduate programmes in Agronomic Engineering and Landscape Architecture. Renan has developed expertise in the research process (planning, implementation, and communication of results) in academic and business contexts.
