About Renata Sanchez

Originally from the Rio Grande Valley, I witnessed firsthand how access to healthcare can shape lives and communities. Growing up in a medically underserved region sparked my passion for equitable, patient-centered care, which has only deepened throughout my pharmacy training. Currently a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident at Harris Health System, I'm passionate about advancing patient care. My clinical interests lie in the ambulatory care setting, where I find I am able to develop impactful, long-lasting relationships. I’m especially drawn to serving diverse and underserved communities, and I strive to be a pharmacist who is well-rounded and personally invested in each patient’s journey. Being fluent and bilingual in Spanish has been a vital tool in helping me build trust and improve communication with Spanish-speaking patients, allowing them to feel seen, heard, and empowered in their care. During pharmacy school, my IPPE and APPE experiences gave me hands on exposure across a wide range of practice settings, including ambulatory care, transitions of care, and internal medicine, solidifying my commitment to improving chronic disease management. These experiences deepened my understanding of social determinants of health and strengthened my ability to adapt, empathize, and advocate. I bring strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and resilience to every team I join. I lead with compassion, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence in every patient and provider interaction. Ultimately, my goal is to pursue a PGY2 residency in ambulatory care and continue advancing equitable, proactive care for complex patient populations.
