Experienced, board-certified veterinary toxicologic pathologist supporting therapeutic modalities such as gene therapy, new chemical and biological entities across all UCB therapeutic areas (Neuroscience, Immunology, Bone, and Rare Diseases). 15-20 years of experience in midsize pharmaceutical companies and Contract Research Organization with hands-on experience on all animal species: rat, mouse, rabbit, dog, Minipig, and non-human primate. Special interest in neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory pathology. Primary evaluation and contemporaneous/retrospective peer review experience of regulatory and mechanistic toxicology studies ranging from acute to chronic studies. Project pathologist for NBEs, NCEs, protein degraders, and AAV-based gene therapy from in silico safety assessment to post-marketing. Safety leader on AAV-based gene therapy for CNS indications, define, communicate and refine project-specific non-clinical safety strategy in line with Target Organ Strategies. Identify and contextualize safety liabilities and develop risk management and mitigation plan. Currently leading the histology/IHCsafety platform at UCB Braine.
