About Renee Criswell

As a young child, I always seem to be able to relate to others and had a skill for communication and active listening. They say communication is key, but that is not entirely correct. Comprehension of that communication is what matters most. I have been in the work force since I was 14 and have been very fortunate to work for some mazing companies and with some wonderful people. With well over 25 years of professional experience, I have had the ability to obtain vast amounts of knowledge in varying areas, and the most important education I have received thus far, ensure proper communication and comprehension has been made. I apply this to all aspects of my life. My past experiences have taught me that a great communicator is also a great listener. Those two alone can make for a successful and respectful individual, which in turn, makes a successful planner/team/company and all in all successful relationships. I pride myself on knowing how to adapt to various personalities and how to listen to those within our community. Once you learn everyone deserves a voice and you respect that voice, you can then resolve issues, make connections and promote success, for all. My current position as city planner allows me to put the best efforts forward in trying to understand our community's needs, ensuring growth not only in an architectural and urban planning stand point, but growth in diversity and community. I feel my strengths begin with effective communication, conflict resolution and ability to multi-task within a fast paced environment. As a planner you need to see not just the project presented, but what and who gave that project inspiration and what that project can do to inspire. I try to always keep a positive attitude and forgive those who don't, as you never truly know what may be troubling someone. Kindness is free, it doesn't cost anything to give and brings a large reward. I am team player with a willingness for continued learning, compassionate yet strong, creative and reliable. Above all else, my biggest accomplishments have been being the mother of two wonderful human beings. my daughters. These strong, compassionate young women teach me knew areas of growth daily and that there are still many areas of growth needed in this world and it doesn't take a lot of money or a lot of people to make those small steps in doing so.
