Psychologist, Speaker, Trainer, Author, Program Developer with strong evidence based skills in CBT, Relationship Work (Couples, Families & Interpersonal Challenges), Anxiety Disorders, Social Skills Training, TeleHealth Services and Customized Programs for Business and Personal Use. Trained as a Clinical-Community Psychologist, I've been in Private Practice in the Seattle area since the mid-1980's. My current office is located in Bellevue, WA. My practice is multifaceted, covering a range of services and approaches; but more recently, I find myself providing more and more services remotely in a blended office-TeleHealth model. For me, the key to success is finding ways to insure the quality of my remote services is both appropriate for and equal to or better than the services I provide in my office or in the field. The net result has been a positive symbiotic relationship in which the success of one feeds the other. That said, my research and Community Psychology roots run deep and color my vision of what psychotherapy and the delivery of mental health services should look like. Consequently in 2001, I launched a public service website entitled Shake Your Shyness. The site, now regarded as one of the most highly rated sites in the area (broken links and all), is truly a labor of love that, through the magic of the internet, transformed my understanding of what a community can be and how the simple act of sharing information with the people who need it most can make a difference in the lives of people world-wide. Presently my professional focus is on - Relationship Counseling including Pre-Marital Counseling, Couples Therapy, & Dating- Anxiety disorders with an emphasis on shyness and social anxiety- Social Skills Training Programs- Writing & Public Speaking- Strategies for integrating technological advances with mental health service delivery & - Animal Assisted Therapy. Populations served include a mix of adults, children, businesses & organizations.
