About Renee Hector

I have a strong connection to the women’s game both as an elite player and as a coach inspiring the next generation of female players and as a development coach working with talented players to support their progression to elite football. As a player, I represented Watford from the age of 11 up to the age of 20, and then represented Tottenham Hotspur Women, Charlton Athletic and Watford as a senior player. Unfortunately in August 2020, I sustained an ACL injury which meant I was unable to continue my playing journey. Determined to continue to have an impact on the profile and growth of women’s football I decided to pursue coaching roles within the development and elite side of the game alongside my role within the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. I completed my UEFA B Licence in December 2022 and held an assistant coaching role for Watford FC Women development squad, and after a successful season I was promoted to Head Coach, then shortly after ETC Lead as well. My experience as a player has really helped me to connect with the group and build a rapport with them quickly, using my journey to inspire and motivate players as individuals and as a team. This led me on to successfully apply for a space on the England Elite Coach Programme. I was paired with the England Women U17s squad and have completed my first stint of international duty in February. This experience has led me to be completely inspired and elevate my knowledge and standards within the elite side of the game. The learnings from this experience are endless and I am looking forward to the rest of the international season. I am now currently the head coach of Watford FC Women First Team in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division. By working across most sectors within football, I feel that this has given me a great all-round perspective of how to get the best out of others and myself.
