About Renee Weir

My focus is helping organisations build practical systems and processes that improve decision-making, strengthen compliance and support effective outcomes. In my current role I support enterprise risk and assurance activities across the university, helping coordinate risk reporting, governance processes and operational systems that strengthen the University’s control environment. My work includes facilitating risk workshops, improving internal systems and templates, supporting risk analysis activities and contributing to the implementation of governance and compliance tools. I work closely with stakeholders across the University to help ensure risks are understood, managed and reported effectively. Before joining the university sector, I spent more than two decades running a global software business. Through this work I helped organisations improve their operations by analysing business workflows, mapping processes and designing systems that made complex processes easier to manage.Running a business provided deep practical experience in how organisations actually function. That perspective now informs my approach to governance and risk: frameworks and policies only succeed when they translate into processes people can realistically follow.Areas of professional interest include:• Enterprise risk management• Governance and assurance frameworks• Compliance systems and GRC platforms• Business process improvement• Operational systems and workflow design• Organisational effectiveness in complex institutions
