Background
About Rens Bod
As a computational cognitive scientist I develop models of linguistic, musical and visual perception. As an eHumanities (or computational humanities) researcher, I generalize methods from computational linguistics to musicology, philology, historiography and art history. And as a historian of the humanities, I explore a comparativist approach to the history of science and humanities. I am a Vici-award recipient from the Dutch Research Council and the author of 150+ papers and 15 books. My OUP book "A New History of the Humanities" was translated into 7 languages, and my JHUP book "World of Patterns: A Global History of Knowledge" is available open access. My latest book is on the world history of the search for meaning and purpose and is currently being translated into English.
