My name is Robert E. Sharpe (Res), and I am a sophomore at Virginia Tech. Growing up, I developed a passion for robotics, and now, at Tech, I am further pursuing that passion as a part of the university's integrated Controls, Robotics, and Autonomy major within the Computer Engineering degree. Overall, my goal is to research the intersection between machine learning and autonomous control systems and enhance robotic capabilities! I received numerous accolades for my work in software development for my high school robotics team including:* 9 Winning Alliance Captain Awards at the regional level * 2023 North Carolina State Champion * 2 Winning Alliance Captain Awards at Offseason Competitions at the state level * Semifinalist at the Maryland Tech Invitational, an international robotics competition * 3-time Participant at the Maryland Tech Invitational * 3-time State Championship Semifinalist * 15+ Various other Awards/Accolades given by the FIRST Tech Challenge Along with those I have also received a few other honors/recognitions from my High School/School Board:* Ambassador Award * Award for Excellence in Python Programming * Award for Academic Achievement and Recognition by the Alamance Burlington School System School Board for acceptance into the 2022 Governor's School West session for mathematics.* Award for Excellence in Science
