About Reshma Kassanjee

PASSIONATE about applying statistics, and computational and applied mathematics, in public health. THRIVES when immersed in technically challenging and complex problems of real-world relevance. VALUES multidisciplinary teamwork, shared expertise and meaningful engagement, and mutual growth. BELIEVES in 'lifting others as you rise' and inclusivity- Currently, I am a member of the global International epidemiology Databases to Evaluate AIDS (IeDEA) consortium. We harmonize and leverage observational HIV cohort data to inform individual- and population-level decision-making and policy. Over my career, I have had the privilege of making key contributions to national and global epidemiological projects. Highlights include- Leading the analysis for the largest COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness study in Africa during the pandemic- Supporting the UNAIDS Reference Group on Estimates, Modelling, and Projections in generating global HIV statistics- Developing internationally recognized methods and guidance for cross-sectional HIV incidence estimation- Leading analyses for South Africa's first nationally-representative study of child abuse, neglect and violence; as well as a randomized controlled trial for an open access, non-commercialized parenting program. Looking ahead, I am excited about future opportunities to develop methods and tools, and generate impactful results, for public health.
