Ever since I graduated from Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB) in 2011, I have been spending all of my working experience in the oil and gas industry, including servicing BP Indonesia over the past six years as Land and Forestry Permit Specialist. As the job title entails, my main responsibility is to make sure the delivery of all required land and forestry permits from relevant agencies – in central, provincial and regental levels – to support BP in the operation of Tangguh LNG plant in Teluk Bintuni, West Papua. Extensive engagement with key stakeholders – in this case senior officials primarily from the Ministry of Forestry and Environment, West Papua Forestry Office, Teluk Bintuni Regency’s Land Agency – is a big part of what I do on regular basis. This allows me to continuously foster a good relationship with the company’s main stakeholders, which is beneficial not only to smooth out the permitting process but also to discuss solutions to potential risks or obstacles. Internally, I coordinate all efforts in all permit processes, from planning to execution to monitoring, and work intensively with relevant functions and departments. This includes providing regular reports/updates to internal leadership as well as recommendations on how to mitigate certain regulatory risks, whenever they arise, while still ensuring compliance with all company’s policies.
