About Rex Curtin

CAPT Curtin graduated from the University of Utah in 1989 as the Navy Captain’s League Distinguished Naval Graduate. After initial specialized warfare training and duty, he attended flight school and was designated a Naval Aviator. On the CNATRA Staff in Corpus Christi, Texas, he served as the Principal Assistant Program Manager for JPATS. CAPT Curtin was an Instructor Pilot in the T-44A PEGASUS and the T-34C TURBO MENTOR. His P-3C tours include VP-50, VP-47, VP-30, and VP-10. CAPT Curtin graduated from Air Command and Staff College, earning JPME I credit. In March of 1997, CAPT Curtin reported aboard USS NIMITZ as Assistant Navigator where he completed an around-the-world deployment and earned qualifications as Surface Warfare Officer, Officer of the Deck Underway and Command Duty Officer Underway. He was also recognized as COMMANDER, NAVAL AIR FORCES PACIFIC FLEET Ship Handler of the Year for 1998. CAPT Curtin was assigned as the Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing FIVE Training Officer in 2002. In June 2004, he reported to the Naval Postgraduate School, Graduate School of Business and Public Policy (GSBPP), in Monterey, California, completing an MBA in Financial Management. He reported as XO of Patrol Squadron FOUR SIX in May 2006 and took command from May 2007 until May 2008. CAPT Curtin completed an assignment as the Head of Aviation Warfare Programming in the “Bullpen”, OPNAV Staff, N801K at the Pentagon in July 2010. Subsequent to Pentagon duty he graduated from the National Defense University, Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, DC. on June 9, 2011. He completed an assignment as the Chief of Staff to the Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) in Corpus Christi, Texas and took command as Commodore for Training Airwing FOUR until June 2014.
