Dr. Reymundo Dominguez is a seasoned expert in research administration and neuroscience, currently serving as a Federal Sponsor Grant and Contract Portfolio Administrative Manager. He formerly held the role of Scientific Review Officer in the Scientific Review Branch at the National Institute on Aging, where he supported peer review processes for federally funded research programs. Dr. Dominguez earned his PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, California. His doctoral research explored the role of sex steroid hormones in modulating synaptic plasticity in the adult brain, with particular emphasis on their activational effects and neuroprotection. He received predoctoral training in Endocrinology and Neurobiology of Aging through the USC Neuroscience Graduate Program and completed postdoctoral training as a National Research Service Award (NRSA) Fellow at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. His fellowship research focused on advancing neuroendocrinological understanding of brain aging. He also pursued further postgraduate training in Neuroendocrinology, Sexual Dimorphism, and Reproductive Biology at the Laboratory for Neuroendocrinology (LNE) within the Brain Research Institute (BRI) at UCLA. In addition, Dr. Dominguez held a junior faculty position in the Optogenetics and Protein Engineering Group at the University of Tasmania School of Medicine in Australia. His research has helped elucidate cellular and molecular mechanisms of estrogen signaling in neurons, offering deeper insights into how sex steroid hormones influence aging and disease processes in the brains of both sexes.
