About Rhetta Standifer

Have you ever noticed how experiences can appear varied at first glance, but on closer inspection illustrate a pattern? I have a range of work and life experiences, but the through line is this: I love to help people learn new things. I do this through online teaching, and also as a professional writer. I have been a professor of management/leadership for over 25 years, teaching undergraduate and graduate students (nationally and internationally) about: • organizational culture and the ways organizations work • how to motivate people • how best to lead others in order to achieve organizational goals and make work meaningful • how to manage teams (traditional, cross-functional, and remote). As a scholarly researcher, I have published articles about teams and multi-team systems, generational diversity in the workplace, B2B conflict, and the ways in which time influences organizations and teams. That research gives me unique insights into organizational behavior and ways to help people I teach and advise. While I continue to teach online academic courses, I am pivoting away from a traditional academic career and focusing on my career as a professional writer. I offer my skills for: • creating shareable social media content • blogging in a B2C or B2B arena • developing content strategy • “results-oriented”, digital copywriting In my capacity as a professional writer, I can use the extensive knowledge and experience I have in: • B2B relationships • Organizational Behavior (e.g, motivating others, communication, culture, conflict resolution) • Leadership • Human Resources (e.g, training, recruiting, compensation, strategic HRM) • Teams • Meetings • Generational diversity All work and no play makes us all boring (and most likely, a bit cranky)! So I can also provide content on the following interests areas of mine: • Music in general, classical, jazz, music theory • Dogs and cats - I’m an animal lover – ask me about my wacky puppy Piper and “mature” cat Dapple both of whom are shelter (rescue) animals • Food - I don’t like to call myself a “foodie” – sounds pretentious. But I love to talk and write about food in all its forms.
