Work experience Jolly Sailor Restaurant – Hospitality Bar and Restaurant Manager 2021 – presentDuring the summer of 2021 I worked in a busy hospitality hotspot in Pembrokeshire. With COVID protocols several additional precautions were needed to ensure customer safety. Initially assigned to running all bar work, including organizing shifts of 8 personnel, serving, barrel changes, restocking and ordering. After demonstrating team leadership, I was elevated to the front of house in the restaurant and popular gardens for food and drinks. This was a big step up for me from the bar work as it required high organization, adaptable attitude to numerous situations, focus on customer satisfaction and coordinating bar-restaurant-kitchen timings. The Restaurant and Garden would accommodate around 100 covers, with bookings and walk-ins to coordinate. Time management, leadership, organizing teams, clear and detailed communications, working long hours and maintaining high customer focus were the key skills and experience needed to be continually applied. Chris Ward Builders & Co. 2018 – 2020 General HandI worked in small-scale construction company for the past 3 years during summer breaks from education. Working at various locations I gained very relevant hands on experience, which has helped me with several aspects of my more practical degree modules. This has typically been on domestic refurbishments and new builds. The work covered all aspects of construction from groundwork, foundations, structural steel, and block work through to the roof install and final internal finishing. Working alongside other trades for first and second fix of electrics and plumbing provided a valuable exposure to the importance of schedule and material expediting to ensure a fully productive workforce.Daewoo Shipping and Mechanical Engineering – Okpo, South Korea2018 – Engineers Work Experience I was fortunate enough have work experience in South Korea in the world famous DSME Shipbuilding yard. During the work experience I was exposed to all divisions of the yard. Observing the complicated process of shipbuilding from Engineering to final sail-away I had the opportunity to work alongside some very experienced quantity surveyors from many countries. They impressed upon me the importance of schedule, materials, cost and production sequence together with the types of software they use and what roles they specifically play in the ship building process.Zero Carbon Awareness Course – silver award
