About Rhys Watkinson

Passionate, people-focused professional with over a decade of experience delivering engaging activities that enrich lives, build connections, and strengthen communities. Currently, I am the Coordinator and Group Facilitator for Alzheimer’s Society in Derbyshire, where I oversee and deliver group programmes such as Memory Cafés and Singing for the Brain. Alongside running these sessions, I manage and support a network of 40+ volunteers, ensuring our groups continue to provide meaningful, supportive spaces for people affected by dementia. My background includes more than 10 years of self-employment, creating and delivering stimulating physical, mental, and social activities across care homes in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. I’ve also adapted to new challenges with resilience – from scaling my work during Covid-19 to embracing leadership roles in football and community sport. Outside of my professional role, I am deeply involved in football. I am a Level 5 Senior County Referee and a Women’s 3W Referee, with highlights including refereeing the FA Disability Cup Final, broadcast live on TNT Sports, as well as several England international disability fixtures (cerebral palsy, blind & deaf). I also create behind-the-scenes referee content on TikTok, building a community of over followers. As Chairman of a grassroots football club, I lead four teams and also run a charity football team that has raised over for good causes. Above all, I am a proud partner and father, driven by family and community values. I’m always open to connecting with like-minded professionals who share a passion for inclusion, wellbeing, and making a positive impact.
