About Ric Galvan

I am a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelors degree in History and Latino Policy Studies. Since 2016, I have organized with community to address issues of gun violence, hold our utilities accountable, and get more young people and working people involved in local government. While at UT Austin I organized with young people through the Texas Freedom Network as a Deputy Field Organizer, and later the Central Texas Campus Organizer for Texas Rising. Through these positions I organized with coalitions of young people, working people, faith leaders, teachers, and elected officials throughout Central Texas to expand healthcare access, fund our public schools, and protect the environment. As the Pipers Meadow neighborhood association president, I have worked with my neighbors to advocate for our parks, for safer streets, and keeping our neighborhood clean. Currently, I work full time as a Director of Special Projects for San Antonio District 5 City Councilmember Teri Castillo’s office, helping deliver constituent services and local policies that aim to lower housing costs, expand healthcare access, and build a local economy that works for all.
