Background

About Ricardo Carmo

I’m a curious engineer with a passion for learning. I love building robots and making them interact with the surrounding world - whether through artificial intelligence, neuroscience, or any other way. Above all, I like to be intellectually challenged.I have found that I am better suited for technical leadership positions, as I am very strong technically and do have some managing experience at this stage. Some of my technical skills include: Programming in C++(git & Linux), Matlab and Python. Robotics: direct and inverse kinematics, path planning, collision avoidance. Computer vision: image processing & real-time tracking. Statistical machine learning methods: supervised learning, unsupervised learning and reinforcement learning. Industrial integrated 3D mechanical/electromechanical design: steel, stainless steel and aluminium sheet metal and machined parts, integrated with actuators, industrial computers and PLCs. Experience in mechanical/structural analysis, including (meshless) FEA Extensive 3D printing experience from multiple projects: humanoid-like robot, bio-inspired robotic snake, human-like flexible hand. Experience with small boards, like Arduino, and servos, as well. Experience with EMG and neural recordings.
