About Rich Maxon

As a child my favorite toys were Legos, Corgi diecast cars, Hotwheels and odd product samples my Dad brought home from work. I can recall that I had a collection of products that I had no idea what they where but to me they looked cool and and had dynamic motion. He worked at Detroit Ball Bearing, an Industrial Distributor of bearings, so these products were of course primarily bearings. I came to find out these odd objects were tapered roller bearings, cam followers, split mount pillow blocks then this one item that stood out from the rest and was really fun. It was a gold colored screw with a clear plastic nut on it that had little shiny balls in it. It was called a ballscrew and it was the coolest thing at the time. Well fast forwarding to my college years and following my Dad's path of going into the industrial world I went Texas A&M University to specialize in Industrial Distribution and work for a manufacturer. My first career opportunity was, believe it or not, to work for a company called Thomson Saginaw Ballscrew Co. and manufacture and apply ballscrews into linear motion solutions for people. To this day I am still in linear motion and I now work for Helix Linear Technologies applying ballscrews, acme screws and many other manners of these same products that so fascinated me as a child.
