About Rich Schultz

Dr. Schultz is happily married to Cheryl DeFusco Schultz. He earned his doctorate in Public Health with a focus on epidemiology in 2015 from Walden University. He is a published author of "Predictors of physician use of the new National Institute on Aging Alzheimer's Assessment Protocols" which utilized a quantitative study approach examining sole source data collected through his survey instrument. Additionally, he utilized the Rodgers diffusion of innovation theory describing how his theory and current data would advance the knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and early detection of Alzheimer's with an in-office physician test. He redefined the diagnostic term "Alzheimer's disease" found in both the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM-IV) as well as the International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD editions 8, 9, and 10) to "Classic Alzheimer's Disease Symptoms (CADS)". He conceptualized, defined, and successfully defended CADS during his oral defense. Dr. Schultz identified a gap in the current diagnostic process, definitions in ICD 8 and 9 editions, scientific medical journals, and the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM-IV) defining or using the term Alzheimer's for living patients. He postulated the need for earlier detection of Alzheimer's disease and encourages the use of in-office tests now available for the earlier detection of Alzheimer's as defined by the new National Institute of Aging criteria, testing, insurance codes used (ICD) and related definitions.
