About Richa Singh

With a diverse background spanning industry, academia, and policy research, I bring a unique blend of experience and expertise to address today's pressing environmental challenges. I understand the crucial intersection between research, policy, and practical implementation. Industry: Over the years, I've had the privilege to work hands-on in various industry settings- implementing sustainable practices in hazardous waste management, optimizing resource utilization, and reducing environmental footprints. These experiences have honed my practical knowledge of recycling strategies, and green technologies. Academia: My academic pursuits have driven me to explore the depths of environmental engineering and waste management. I've conducted research, published peer-reviewed articles, and mentored the next generation of environmental leaders. My time in academia has sharpened my analytical skills and deepened my understanding of environmental complexities particularly in realm of waste management. Policy Research Institute: My work has involved data-driven insights on waste management, creating guidelines for management of legacy waste, drafting policy for sanitary waste management, and advocating for evidence-based decisions. I hold a doctorate from IIT Bombay in environmental engineering and a master’s degree, with a gold medal in Environmental Science and Technology from Banaras Hindu University. I have worked as a Visiting Research Scholar at Institute of Occupational Medicine and Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. I have also been the recipient of DST Inspire fellowship and 2019 ISWA-SWIS scholarship on landfill management and landfill mining jointly organized by the University of Texas at Arlington, USA and International Solid Waste Management Association (ISWA). I have worked on various national and international projects funded by organizations such as United Nations Agencies (IMO, UNEP and ILO), EU funded projects Sustainability - funded by Erasmus + and Earth watch institute.
