About Richard Basile

I represent clients in all areas of intellectual property with the focus of my practice in patent litigation and patent prosecution. I have extensive first-chair patent litigation experience with an emphasis on counseling representing generic drug companies at both the trial and appellate levels and have been involved in preparing numerous patent opinions and Paragraph IV notice letters. I have represented clients on drugs, literally from A to Z, including Abilify, Actos, Allegra, Allegra D, Clarinex, Coreg, Doryx, Metrogel, Naropin, Neurontin, Pulmicort Respules and Zofran, among others. I have also litigated intellectual property cases in a variety of forums including federal district courts throughout the United States, before the United States Patent Office and the International Trade Commission. The technologies litigation include aerospace bearings, semiconductor nano particles, ultrasonic water meters, GPS business method patents, automotive cameras, medical imaging devices, radiation based paper making sensors, computer cooling fans, heavy vehicle breaking systems, bicycle suspensions and fiber optic amplifiers and multiplexers. I have also argued numerous appeals before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. I have lectured both in the U.S. and abroad on patent litigation, attorney client privilege in patent cases, patent opinion letters and Paragraph IV notice letters. During law school I was a judicial external to both Judge Pauline Newman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and Judge John A. Nordberg of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. I also served on the Board of Governors and am a past President of the Connecticut Intellectual Property Law Association.
