About Richard Bishop

Since my appointment as a Traffic Engineering Assistant with Leicestershire County Council in the early 1990’s I have developed my career in Traffic Signal engineering. While this is a specialised field I also possess a good all-round knowledge of traffic, transportation and civil engineering. I am experienced in most aspects in the field of Traffic Signals from concept to delivery. I pride myself on a high standard of design competence and an ability to deliver all types of scheme from the straightforward to complex MOVA intersections. I have a particularly in-depth understanding and experience of complex signalling methods, including signalising small and medium ICD roundabouts. I have presented 2 papers at the JCT symposium. In my previous Associate role with WYG I held key responsibilities in varied projects including corridor studies, designs for Transport Assessments, Section 278 technical approvals, project management, UTC work and advising clients regarding highways access viability. Clients have included the Highways Agency, EDF, IKEA, Local Authorities, National Rail and several residential and commercial developers. Involvement with negotiation and problem resolution for technical approvals has been more prevalent in recent years as well as pre-application advice. I believe I am a conscientious and diligent person who can work either as an individual or as part of a team, bringing my experience and enthusiasm to help deliver key projects. I have a proven track record for delivery, sometimes overcoming significant project challenges. I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation.
