About Richard Brattlund

With over 25 years of experience in web technologies, I’ve had the privilege of, formally or informally, wearing many hats — from project manager, product owner, system owner, and team lead to hands-on coding, devops, code review, UX, and testing. At the heart of it all lies my true passion: web development and UX/design. The process of continuous learning is what first drew me to designing websites, and I still strive to stay up to date with the latest trends in programming and software development. After a few years of running my own one-man firm and consulting, I wanted to find a place where I could be part of something meaningful and impactful. I started working at The Swedish Internet Foundation and have stayed there for almost 15 years, contributing to free educational material, coworking spaces, conferences, and other projects in the spirit of public benefit. Surrounded by talented experts, I’m still learning new things every day. Over the past decade, my journey expanded into the world of IT security. Today, my focus leans even more towards information security and compliance, driven by the evolving landscape of EU regulations. And occasionally I give lectures to front-end development students at Medieinstitutet on IT security and how to build secure web applications. Navigating the intersection of technology, security, and business has become a core part of what I do. Naturally, AI has become an integral part of my workday, and I’m currently leading a project aimed at increasing AI adoption among my coworkers while ensuring sensitive information remains protected from third parties. I always prioritise bridging the gap between tech experts and everyone else, simplifying complex topics to get everyone on the same page and enable smarter decision-making. Staying on top of new technologies while never forgetting the importance of clear communication is key to my approach.
