About Richard Dobeck

Hi, I'm Richard! Throughout my youth, I utilized both halves of my brain: my musical endeavors as a classical clarinetist expanded the right side of my brain, while my schoolwork challenged the left side of my brain (I particularly loved math and sciences). Since graduating high school, I have dedicated myself almost exclusively to music, getting 2 degrees in music performance and playing with various orchestras. As much as I love performing music, it has become increasingly clear in the wake of COVID-19 that it is extremely difficult to have a fulfilling life on music alone. I started coding the summer of 2020, and I think I've been bitten by a bug (pun intended). I've always loved trying to figure out how things work. Working with JavaScript and its various libraries (such as React, Node.js, and Express) has reignited that passion to dissect difficult concepts and make sense of them. I'm excited to keep learning! As a musician, I primarily perform with various symphony orchestras. I hold positions with the San Luis Obispo Symphony, the San Bernardino Symphony, and am regularly hired with additional ensembles for various gigs. As a coder, I am working toward being a full-stack web developer. I am comfortable with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL. In both career paths, I have a high attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and work well with others.
