About Richard Doherty

Richard Doherty (Dual-national USA-UK with full work rights in Australia) completed a Master of Data Science at the RMIT STEM college in Dec 2023 (career refresh at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) and holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Alabama College of Engineering, as well as an MBA from the University of Alabama College of Business. Richard held a variety of technology leadership roles in the USA and the UK before migrating to Australia. He was previously a research professional and technology leader at the Global Water Security Center after having served on faculty with the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Business and Auburn University, Harbert College of Business. Before his career in higher education teaching and research, Richard was based in the UK and helped lead global ERP software implementation efforts at Diageo and GlaxoSmithKline where he was VP, ERP Design and Deployment. His professional work in the UK included time at the BBC, British American Tobacco, and Wipro as a Senior SAP Practice Manager. Earlier experience includes consulting roles at SAP America and PriceWaterhouse back in the USA. Some of his career achievements include recognition as the CTO of a B2B marketplace that made Forbes’ Best of the Web and the satisfaction that comes with seeing hundreds of previous students move on to successful careers in data, applications, and technology.
