About Richard Geeves

I have been working for ChildFund Australia in Sydney in various capacities since May 2009 on development effectiveness and program support for ChildFund's country offices in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam. In late 2015 I moved to the position of Senior Education Adviser. I returned to Australia in 2008 after fifteen years abroad. I lived in Cambodia from 1993 until 2008, working in the field of education with NGOs and as a consultant to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and multi-lateral development organizations. Consultancies in the region also took me to Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. I gained my initial experiences as a teacher and teacher educator in the Northern Territory of Australia in indigenous community schools in Arnhemland. I later held positions as a remote area teacher education lecturer (based in Numbulwar, south east Arnhem) and then on-campus at the (then) Batchelor College, south of Darwin. I studied at the Australian National University, graduating with a BA (1974) and MA (1980), both in the field of history. I completed a Graduate Diploma of Education at the Darwin Community College in 1981.
