About Richard Greatrex

Chartered Professional Engineer with a focus on design and construction of civil infrastructure. Particular interest areas are water, dams, multi-discipline design management and contract administration. Most recently, I led the owners site team during construction of the largest dam built in New Zealand for 30 years. I have worked as a designer and site engineer for large scale civil projects in a wide range of disciplines. This generalist experience gives me the ability to recieve and manage technical input from specialists and contractors. I have worked across New Zealand and in Indonesia in teams ranging in size from six to over a hundred. This experience has included dealing with clients and contractors in a range of difficult circumstances both in person and remotely. In addition to design I have strong experience in project management for consulting and construction projects. My CPEng practice area is "Design, construction monitoring and contract management of civil and dam infrastructure including dam safety management". I am a Recognised Engineer (Dam Safety) able to certify hazard classifications and safety assurance programmes for existing dams in New Zealand.
