About Richard Hamer
In 2005, I joined forces with Randy Herman and Dan Freier of Pine Grove Management to start Deft Research and focus on the growing need for health consumer research. The work has been very rewarding. Prior to that I spent 12 years as executive director of InterStudy. There I initially ran the research department of the original think-tank, and then with Ellwood and board chairman Tom Pyle's (formerly CEO of Harvard Community Health Plan) blessing turned the department into a for-profit research company. The key development was licensing the InterStudy brand to Decision Resources of Boston. With Sam Fleming, as Decision Resource's CEO, and me as InterStudy exec, it was a great success. Specialties: Health consumer research and secondary data integration.
