After an intensive discussion, the deal threatened to fail due to substantive arguments. We took a break. A glance at our telephone changed the day: famous Dutch Politician Pim Fortuyn had just been murdered. Back at the table, we let the negotiations rest and shared feelings of disbelief, uncertainty and vulnerability. That same evening we picked up the negotiation again; however, we felt more connected now.
