Background

About Richard Morla

I’m a small-town boy who went to the big city for college. I studied advertising and spent six years working in marketing roles at large consumer goods companies. Then entrepreneurship entered my life. Almost by accident. Since then, I’ve founded four companies and sold two of them. The first one was a magazine publishing company. Real paper magazines. We started it with no money at all and eventually reached three million euros in annual revenue. When we were around twenty-five people, I sold my shares to my partners. I spent the money on an MBA between China and the United States. The best year of my life. After coming back to Spain, I opened a clothing store as a franchise. It didn’t go well and almost ruined me. With a lot of sweat and tears, I managed to turn it around, hired a store manager and, in parallel, started a startup. With absolutely no technical background. Very naive. We went through several accelerators and raised some funding, but since it wasn’t monetising properly, I pivoted the project into a software development services company and called it RUDO. This one worked. Very well. In 2020, when we were around twenty people, I sold the company to Lãberit, a large technology consulting firm. I became a shareholder and stayed on to run it as a business unit. The goal was clear: make it grow. And it did. For five years, I led RUDO within Lãberit, driving its integration and evolution. What started as a small company became a consolidated mobile apps practice of 75 people, building mobile applications for clients such as Banco Santander and LaLiga. At the end of 2025, the RUDO brand was fully integrated into Lãberit. Today, I lead the mobile applications practice and the financial services sector within the company, combining responsibility for production and operations with sector-level commercial leadership. I’m also getting involved in M&A processes, collaborating on the acquisition and integration of companies in the sector. My work philosophy is not about working twelve hours a day, but about growing in a sustainable way while the team and I live well and stay happy. That’s why, for a couple of months each year, I run the business while working remotely and travelling around the world, which is one of my biggest passions. I also teach at business schools, write a blog and have published a book.
