About Richard Nelson

I am a specialist international trade and export consultant, advising architecture, engineering, construction and property firms on growing their businesses globally. I have experience in over 80 countries, developing business strategies, implementing market entry plans, originating and securing projects valued at over £20 billion in construction across most building and infrastructure sectors, as well as managing global account relationships. I served on the management board of Watkins Gray International, a £10m turnover private architectural practice, and the £120m design and infrastructure divisional board of Capita Symonds, part of publicly listed Capita plc. Voluntary board roles have included the Institute of Directors City of London Branch, and the Society for Marketing Professional Services - New York City Chapter, as well as various committee chair roles within each organisation. I am also Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the voluntary group Don't Waste Buildings, an unfunded effort campaigning to stimulate the UK's economic growth through 1) financial and tax incentives to make retrofit of existing buildings simpler and more profitable, 2) policy clarity on retrofit and 3) the regulation of embodied carbon in construction.
