As a member of the International Office Internal Audit, I play a key role in providing senior management and executive leadership with independent assurance to ensure that CBM's risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively.In my capacity, I have been part of the cross-functional International Office team for ensuring compliance and financial accountability by those entrusted with donor funds (CBM Country and Regional Offices globally, and implementing partners).This roving global position with extended travel internationally of up to 50%, contributes to the over continuous practical hours I have accumulated in managing financial accountability. This expertise is a direct result of undertaking assurance, investigative and due diligence assignments coupled with post-qualification training in multicultural environments in more than 20 Countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, in both Anglophone and Francophone settings. By tackling diverse financial accountability complexities and relationship management, the positions I have held have been enriched with hands-on experience gained from diverse situations. These cross-cutting situations inevitably require balancing compliance with pragmatism, yet with a measure of decisiveness and firmness.The hours of practice gained from over 20 years as a CPA in progressively diverse roles have also afforded me the opportunity to: 1. develop contextualised program financial accountability solutions that are benchmarked against best practices and borrowing from lessons learnt from global assignments; 2. remotely lead project teams whose members I do not have a direct authority (reporting line) over; 3. resolve team conflict, problem solving and finding workable solutions with limited data/information by applying a degree of investigation, analysis, and creative thinking. In summary, I have been tried and tested in high-stake financial accountability situations.
