Background
About Richard Owusu
Richard Owusu is an academic senior member at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology currently at the rank of lecturer, and also a research fellow at Forchungszentrum Julich GmbH, Germany as a postdoc. I hold a Master of Philosophy and a Doctorate in Scientific Computing and Industrial Modeling (Applied Mathematics), as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). My research focus on fluid dynamics, specifically fluid transport in petroleum reservoir, to understand the dynamics of hydrocarbons in reservoirs to make informed decision during petroleum production at the oilfield. I possess substantial research experience, having served as a lecturer and a postdoctoral researcher. The focus of my doctoral thesis was on the modeling of a fractured porous medium, for which I developed a macroscale transport model that incorporates non-Darcian flow dynamics. This model was developed using an upscaling method (volume averaging method). Currently, my postdoctoral research is focused on climate modeling, with the utilisation of the coupled atmospheric and land surface dynamics in the ICOsahedral Nonhydrostatic (ICON) model with large-eddy simulations (LES) being the primary investigative method. The objective of this research is to ascertain the influence of moisture extraction on the climate through the implementation of Direct Air Capture devices. I'm also open to research works for the benefit of the society, and community engagements whether through public lectures for community development or other. As a researcher, I am still taking steps to take courses in petroleum exploration and production technology for consultancy purposes. Any opportunity in this endeavor is welcomed and will be much appreciated. SKILLS: Management, Research, Organizing, Report writing, leadership and teaching are my key competence. Besides, I have the following skills - Strong leadership skills and good interpersonal relation -Good communication -Have basic knowledge in Computing (python programing, C programing and R)-Have basic knowledge in MS Word, Excel, LaTeX -Excellent planing skills and result oriented -Able to withstand pressure and multi-tasking -Have excellent teaching skills
