Visual artist; painter, draughtsman, digital and print maker - Using educated intuition guided by my spiritual journey and informed by classical principles to explore a new progression in abstract spiritual and figurative art. I'm seeking a universal beauty, spiritual connection and narrative in my artwork that expresses itself without the need for a meta narrative. My work ranges from intimate surrealist pen & ink drawings, portraits and abstracts (some with Augmented reality) to public murals in oil paint over 6 meters long and Augmented Reality sculptures over 20 metres in diameter on the lawn of the National Gallery of Victoria and in Hyde Park London. Rather than realistically copying a moment in nature, I apply a process of purification and beautification seeking to unearth the 'feeling'​ and universal beauty beneath the superficial topography of an object; creating art that expresses an inner meaning and brings joy. art that communicates with the eye, connects with the sole and engages the intellect. Payne is a professional artist with an individual style treading his own path who also teaches Perspective for the Artist, figure drawing and various media. Including at various academies, ateliers, studios and universities in Australia, Italy and the USA. Payne's work hangs in private collections in Australia, Europe and the USA.
