About Richard Pointer

With over 15 years of work experience in education, I have developed a passion for chess education and a mission to inspire and empower young minds through the game of chess. As the Scholastic Manager at Saint Louis Chess Club, I oversee a team of over 30 Chess Instructors who provide quality chess instruction to over 100 partner schools and thousands of students online. I also hold the prestigious FIDE Arbiter and FIDE International Organizer titles, which enables me to organize and direct international chess tournaments and events. In my capacity as the Scholastic Department Head at a world-class educational institution, I have lead the design, authorship, and implementation of a comprehensive chess curricula for K-12 students, tailored to meet the Chess Standards designed by the Saint Louis Chess Club under the oversight of GM Maurice Ashley. Under my leadership, we've forged strong relationships with regional educational partners, community organizations, and dedicated chess families to highlight the importance of chess as a key instrument for advanced learning, analytical reasoning, and all-round personal development.
