About Richard Pryce

Surveying & Mapping since 1972. I spent 20 years at Rowe, Legg & Assoc. which became R.P. Legg & Assoc. Inc. I had my own business for 5 years surveying for the Seminole Tribe on all of their Florida Reservations. Miller Legg bought my business and I spent the next 10 years doing GIS, Survey, and Remote Sensing. I spent the last 18 years as the VP of Survey & GIS at Craven Thompson & Assoc. My staff and I have worked hard to develop our Survey and GIS Department into a high tech organization that utilizes the newest state of the art equipment both hardware, software, and have trained many of my staff and crews to handle the latest in Lidar (Terrestrial, Mobile, and Aerial) on numerous projects throughout the south half of Florida. My interest in new technologies continues with High Definition Surveys using 3D Laser technology at Craven Thompson & Associates. We have completed multiple projects with laser scanning including several miles of State Roads, Intersections, bridges, Water & Sewer Plants, Electric Transmission Lines, High School Tracks, Cell Towers, Fountains, a Gantry Crane at Port Everglades, Airport Runways, two 91 foot deep vertical shafts for a tunnel alignments. In 2012-13 we did a Forensic Project with the collapsed parking garage at Miami-Dade College which killed 4 people. We were on the job every day for a month when they started to remove the debris looking for the cause, the scans helped to prove which piling failed. We are involved with multiple Cities doing Survey, Lidar and GIS for water, sewer, and storm systems I am the current President of Florida Surveying & Mapping Society (FSMS), and former Director of District 6 and Chapter President (Broward County) for the Florida Surveying & Mapping Society (FSMS). My goals include technology advancements in LiDAR (Aerial, Mobile, and Terrestrial) and GIS. Specialties: History of Surveying in Florida, Boundary problems and Legal Research, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Aerial Interpretation, Aerial & Terrestrial Lidar uses, Remote Sensing and CAD applications.
