About Richard Purdom

As a Transportation Security Officer I have pursued every opportunity to help broaden and further my career within the Transportation Security Administration, and below is a summary of my accomplishments. Conducted mentoring of new officer candidates as an OJTM (On Job Training Monitor), and ensured Standard Operating Procedures were being conducted and instructed in a clear and concise manner. Provided support in response to natural disasters and high level security events as a member of the Transportation Security Support Team. Deployments included Charlotte, North Carolina, New York, New York, and Washington D.C. While deployed in Charlotte, North Carolina for the Democratic National Convention I was voted MVP for discovering numerous prohibited items. Our deployment in New York, New York provided support for the effected airports ravaged by Hurricane Sandy. Our deployment in Washington D.C. provided additional security personal for the 2013 presidential inauguration which assisted in processing and screening spectators for the historic event. Member of the playbook team or ALS (Additional Layers of Security) which provided screening of SIDA doors, gate screening, watch flight screening, selectee screening, and DCA flights. I was awarded the highest esteem and honor with officer of the year for team spirit in 2013. Promoted to Lead Transportation Security Officer in August 2017, and then I was promoted to Supervisory Transportation Security Officer in September 2018.
