Background

About Richard Roberts

I am currently employed in manufacturing, but have a Masters degree in accounting and am looking to transition to the accounting field. Unlike many people with a Masters in accounting, I have no experience in the accounting field because my undergraduate degree was in a different field. I changed course in my Masters studies because several career aptitude tests pointed me in the direction of accounting and away from my undergraduate course of study. With that, having no experience in the field of accounting makes it hard to obtain an accounting position. I am looking to use LinkedIn as a networking tool to reach out and find contacts that can assist me in finding that first accounting position and determine the best course of action to pursue. I realize that my input as to where in the field of accounting I wish to work is part of that. But also, the advice of those who hire in the accounting industry will be helpful as I determine where I can go given where I am at now.
