About Richard Walsh

Currently working as an Technical Consultant for The Config Team Ltd. In my second year of study at Edge Hill I managed to pass the 98-361:MTA: Software Development Fundamentals (C#) exam as some extra-curricular work. During my studies in my second year I mainly worked on further enhancing my software development skills mainly with Java and C#. This includes starting to use version control for projects so that other team members will have access to the project and will be able to see all current progress that has been made. Software development methods have also been followed through my projects with agile methods being used but also some plan-driven methods being used in some circumstances such as Waterfall. Throughout my Third year of university I have mainly been working on storing and analysing data in computer clusters using many different techniques such as HDFS, Hive, Impala and UNIX Shell. The introduction of Objective C came throughout another couple of my modules this year that would focus on Embedded Systems using the Cortex M3 processor core. For my fourth and final year I mainly reverted back to Mobile Application Development with me being able to participate in doing some voluntary work for a new Fitness Application. This mainly focused on Android development and being able to implement third-party software to allow for version control. GitHub and Git was first used and then this was changed to using GitLab and SourceTree. I have mainly been restructuring large classes within the application into more of an OOP structure for better performance and code re-usability.
