About Richard Weber

After completing my Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at Montana Tech of the University of Montana, I spent time working for a large general contractor, where I gained a great deal of experience with contract management, construction oversight, QA/QC inspections, and jobsite safety plan implementation and supervision. I was able to participate in all aspects of project delivery including: pre-build design collaboration, document/design review and check, estimating and bidding various scopes of work, writing/reviewing contracts and onboarding/supervising subcontractors, inspection of construction/installation for conformance to contract documents, working with subcontractors and designers to resolve design document discrepancies, accounting/billing for completed work, final inspection and contract close-out. I then made a career change, and began work as an Airport Engineer. While in this position I became familiar with federal design regulations and contracting, and spent a large amount of time helping small municipalities receive funding to upgrade/maintain their airfields. I aided in the design of various types of transportation surfaces, electrical/lighting systems, storm water runoff/retention systems, and multiple forms of pavement preservation/maintenance projects. While working as an Airport Engineer, I also made the decision to attend graduate school online and was able to complete my Master's of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Once finished, I was able to transition in to a new role as a Bridge Engineer where I gained exposure to design and analysis of concrete, steel, and wood bridges. I have experience evaluating/designing steel girders, concrete beams, concrete deck systems, pile/foundation systems, abutments and retaining walls, columns, piers, guardrail systems, steel crossframes, and many loading combinations/scenarios. I have a special interest in sustainable building practices and particularly enjoy learning about green technology related to the construction industry and how it can be better implemented in the design, construction, and maintenance phases of project delivery.
