About Rick Abel

With nearly 30 years of retail experience and more than 15 years of management roles fulfilled in that arena, there isn't much I haven't seen within the retail milieu. In the beginning I ran the gauntlet of the fledgling cashier while learning the ins and outs of merchandising and customer service from many different mentors over the years who thankfully saw in me the potential to become a leader. This inspired them to give me opportunities to train others and eventually work my way from a seasonal keyholder position all the way to general manager. The key to my success has always been the strength of my team and those who I trusted to lead others in the same way that I had been entrusted with the responsibility of leading them. I have met many people during my time in retail (bosses, co-workers and even customers) who went on to become lifelong friends. And what I've learned is that it's the people you surround yourself with, both in your professional and private life, who can make or break your chances of success. But the ride isn't over yet and I have a feeling there's still a lot more I'm going to learn!
