About Rick Bourdess

I have 35 years of experience in the Aerospace industry in both technical and management roles, and have a PMP certification. Throughout my career I have had positions as Operations Manager, Program/Project Manager, and Quality Manager, allowing me to have a unique “across the aisle” perspective of all facets of an operation. I put this knowledge into use when making decisions by consistently looking at a situation from different angles to determine and implement a solution that balances the needs of different stakeholders both within and outside the company. In these roles I have had supervisory/manager responsibility for departments of up to 100 people, either directly reporting to me or through subordinates. I have led cross functional teams across multiple levels of a site, as well as across sites in the US and abroad. As a Program Manager, I have been responsible for both program onload performance within a site, as well as for the oversight of the delivery and quality performance of Joint Venture facilities in China and Malaysia. I have used my training in facilitating Lean Kaizen workshops in many situations to be able to clearly define a process as it currently stands, and to develop and implement improvements. I see my management style as collaborative, finding that the best outcomes are normally achieved by building relationships of respect across all levels of an organization, as well as with suppliers and customers. I have been commended both by my peers and customers for being able to be a stabilizing voice in even the most difficult situations, and helping the group determine path forward that is agreeable to all involved. Obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a focus on Operations and Management, has given me the formal education to align with my real-world experience. I have often been called upon to step beyond my defined title to address problems in areas that may be outside my current scope of responsibility, but where I can make the most positive impact for my employer. I possess a unique range of skills and experience that make me a valuable addition to any team I join.
