About Rick Derf

After graduating from Plymouth High School Rick attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, majoring in radio broadcasting. His working career started with an ambition to become a Major League Baseball broadcaster. The first step was a position in his hometown of Plymouth, Indiana, at WTCA AM & FM in 1966. In 1970 he stepped into the insurance industry because of the limited income and opportunity available in the radio field. He was a sales representative for Alexander Hamilton Life Insurance Company and continued to provide play-by-play commentary for area football and basketball games for WTCA-FM through 1987. Rick later became contracted with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and became a District Manager with a local office in Plymouth in the early '80's. At this point he added Aflac benefits to his portfolio in 1979 and is one of a handful of career salesmen with nearly 40 years of experience with the Fortune 500 company. He moved to a full time status with the company in 1985 and was a top performer in management through 2004. He qualified for Aflac's prestigious President's Club six times and attended 16 national conventions. Derf still markets the "Duck's" product line in addition to other life and disability company's product options. In 2002, Rick founded his own company, Profitable Solutions, which is a business founded on helping businesses and individuals with concepts of profitability based on his 48 years of experience.
