About Rick Frederick

Rick is the Managing Director of the Ironwood Insurance Services' Charlotte, NC office. Specializing in all aspects of commercial property/casualty/executive risk and professional liability insurance and risk management, his primary focus is on the management of major client relationships with both domestic and international risk exposures. Rick has over 40 years’ experience working with large national, multinational and private equity clients facilitating complex insurance placements and providing merger/acquisition due diligence and risk management advice to clients in a variety of industries. He serves as a senior member of the Ironwood Insurance Services’ Private Equity Practice and leads the firm's Power Generation Practice group. Prior to joining Ironwood, Rick gained account management and underwriting experience with Alexander & Alexander, Marsh & McLennan, and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. He was a partner and senior leader at Palmer & Cay from 1990 until that firm's acquisition by Wachovia Insurance Services in 2005. Rick remained with the succeeding firms, Wachovia and Wells Fargo Insurance Services, until joining Ironwood in 2015. While at Palmer & Cay/Wachovia/Wells Fargo, he served as a senior member of the collective firms' Financial Sponsors Group and was the South Region Power Generation Practice Group leader. Rick holds a Bachelor of Science and Economics Degree from Auburn University and has earned the designations of Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). Rick is active in Rotary International, the Mecklenburg (North Carolina) Council of Boy Scouts of America and is a Life Member the Auburn University Alumni Association, a member of the College of Liberal Art’s Dean’s Club, the George Petrie Society, the Foy Society and the 1856 Society. A native of Birmingham, AL, Rick is married and has one child.
