About Rick Hawksley

I have been involved in finding creative design solutions for buildings and landscapes since 1975, including historic structures, adaptive reuse, gardens, sites, schools, office, churches, meeting spaces, industrial, barns and streetscapes, etc. i have been involved in master planning and transportation planning, as well as preservation planning I have been working in sustainable development, energy conservation, community oriented transportation, pedestrianism and democratic decision making for 50 years in public and private settings. I have started non-profits, serve(d) on numerous boards and commissions and was an at-large councilman in Kent for two terms. I lost the mayoral race by a coin flip. Of course I believe life happens for a reason if you know how to find it. I believe that there is a reality that can be discovered by scientific method and that our mythologies must enhance human dignity, freedom and conservation of Creation. I have not solved the existential question but am convinced that the answer can be found it the garden and in the infinite expanse of the universe. I am deeply troubled by the authoritarian tendencies of those who seek power over principle and who read the bible as a literal blueprint for theocracy. I am a proud American and will push back against the Big Lie with every ounce of my being. My father served in WW2 and I am as anti-Fascist as he was.
