About Rick Hess

Currently I work as a Task Order Manager and a Independent Validation & Verification Software Analyst for the FAA (contracted through SAIC). This job has allowed me to review requirements and tests related to software, and ensure that software that is meeting the needs of the customer. I also supervise and manage activities for 1-3 people. Previously I worked at NASA IV & V through SAIC, and I currently work as Project Lead for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) project. I am also working as a IV & V systems/software analyst on HLS. Additionally, I have worked as a IV & V systems/software analyst on multiple projects at NASA IV & V, including InSight, JWST, Psyche, GRAIL, and OSIRIS-REX. In addition, I’ve been a Project Lead for Psyche, and groups such as the Static Code Analysis Working Group (SCAWG). Before that,I have worked as a Contracted Software Developer for the DoE, and the DoD. My experience includes working as an NASA IV & V systems/software analyst, who reviews products that are developed during different phases of a lifecycle, including reviewing Requirements, Design, Test, and Implementation artifacts. As part of the Implementation analyis, I have also become proficent on reviewing software builds using many code analysis tools, such as Understand C++, Polyspace, Flexelint, Klocwork, and CodeSonar. Also my experience entails creating web applications as a Software Developer using Visual Studio, C/C++, C#, java, html, javascript, Tomcat, SQL, MatrixOne, TCL, and Robohelp, and we also maintained the machines that those web applications were installed on. The number of machines varied based upon the application, which could vary from 2 to 12 different machines. In addition to the above, in my spare time I focus on networking, repair of pc's/tablets/smartphones, and formulating new ideas and concepts that can improve and change the world we live in.
