About Rick Levick
With more than 30 years of experience in public relations and non-profit management, Rick Levick was well-known nationally in both the biotechnology industry and education and science outreach community. More recently, he has used his skills to advance conservation and ecological issues in the Ontario community of Long Point on Lake Erie. He is known for his self-reliance and entrepreneurial approach to developing and implementing projects and programs with minimal direction. He is an experienced manager of people, both staff and consultants, and manages and leverages available resources to achieve optimum results. Rick holds a Masters degree in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario and the professional accreditation, APR, from the Canadian Public Relations Society. He has worked as a public relations consultant since 1986. Prior to that, he was employed as the executive assistant and communications advisor to the Ontario Minister of Correctional Services, an information officer with the Ontario Ministries of Housing and Treasury and Economics and as a working journalist. Rick has also been involved in conservation issues in the Lake Erie community of Long Point, where his family has a cottage. From 1996 to 2007, he served as president of the Long Point Bay Anglers Association which won a National Recreational Fisheries Award during his tenure. From 2007 to 2017, he worked as coordinator for the Long Point Causeway Improvement Project, a successful community-based effort to reduce road mortality of turtles and snakes, including several Species At Risk, on the 3.6 km road to Long Point. He became a director of the Long Point World Biosphere Reserve Foundation in November 2017 and its president in April 2018.
