About Rick Nelson

Rick serves the in-depth wealth management needs of successful entrepreneurs and medical professionals and their families. Rick limits his focus to this select clientele to facilitate getting to know these individuals and their families personally. He helps clients make work optional and protect the lifestyle they have grown to enjoy - and hope to preserve for future generations. Rick also enjoys helping clients plan for and execute through transitions. Although Rick works with families and businesses in various industries across the country, he especially enjoys working with veterans who served our country and have gone on to entrepreneurial ventures, and the medical profession, which protects our health and well-being. Rick has been in the industry since 1985 and joined Merrill in 2011. Rick's 32 years of experience in the financial services industry include spending nearly the past two decades in senior leadership roles, building and leading branch offices, supervising billions of dollars of client assets from November 1995 through March 2010, and coaching financial advisors on ways to deliver an exceptional client experience. This distinctive combination of experiences has led Rick to create a well-defined five-step consulting process that he uses to engage with professionals to help clients make smart decisions with their money. During time away from the office, Rick has completed the New York City Marathon and several triathlons, coached the North Wall Little League Juniors (14-year-olds) to the New Jersey State Championship in 2011, and coached many other youth sports teams. He and his wife, Lou Anne, and their two sons are active in many charitable endeavors that support military families and returning service members, search for cures for cancer and heart disease, and feed the less fortunate in the community.
